Board Games

So what do you do between the end of the Winter Fishing season and the start of the new Trout Season on 3rd April ? Tie Flies? Reorganise your fly vest? Buy more essential kit?

Some of us have spent a lot of the last few weeks (and will continue for a few more) engaged in Board Games. One very old favourite from our childhood seems to be particularly popular - Stakes and Ladders.

The way it works is that you lug all the playing pieces down to the river, and there you either choose to install a ladder, or use a board or two and a few stakes to build some new steps. Nigel has been organising all these gaming events, and doing quite a few on his own, with Matt, or occasionally with help from Keith or myself, and sometimes Dexter.

Today however we had a board game convention, with catering, supplied by Andrew (Home-made Sausage Rolls) me (doughnuts) and Nigel (coffee). It was a nice day for it, and between us (Andrew, David M, Dexter, Keith, Nigel, Paul F, Peter S and me) we finished fixing up the access to Trottenden. It's now better than ever before, but do bear in mind that last Winter has wreaked quite a lot of destruction and changes. There are new deep holes where features have been washed away, so tread very carefully in the early days of April, and consider using a wading stick to test out what may have been a safe spot last year.

Here's a taste of what we've been up to.

All good fun, and good exercise (is this what they call step aerobics?) and it's not too late to join in - just contact Nigel; it's better than getting bored.

Cheers
