Christmas Party Invitation!

Actually, it's too late now, as you've just missed the last work-party before Xmas, but don't worry: there is a whole set of work-parties already planned for 2026, specifically designed to help you work off that Xmas over-indulgence. Here they are:

Wednesday 7th January

Saturday 17th January

Saturday 14th February (Feel free to bring your spouses/partners/lovers - just not all 3)

Wednesday 25th February

Saturday 21st March

Wednesday 1st April

Saturday 11th April

You probably know that there's much more to a work-party than just work, in fact it's often more more about partying. Especially like today, when Nigel served his excellent coffee, and I tempted everyone with a self-indulgent doughnut, but we were also treated to some excellent home-made sausage rolls from Ian - all very welcome.

We did actually do some useful work, and for once, we weren't working in the river, which is just as well, as you can see in the picture below, taken today at the water-testing site below the footbridge.

This time, we (Andy J, Andy W, Ian, Keith, Niall, Paul, Peter S, Nigel, et moi) were working on dry land at the entrance to the Stonebridge Beat. We have cut back the overhanging and encroaching trees and bushes between the road and the parking place. I say 'parking place' but I don't recommend using it until we have a long period of dry weather, otherwise you could end up parking there a lot longer than you'd intended, as it is pretty soft just now. That's exactly why we have cut back the trees however, as we have tentative plans to improve the surface of the parking spot, and they would involve having to get some large vehicles in there, so we're preparing for it now. I must stress that there are a number of hurdles to cross before we can go ahead with the project, so don't hold your breath. More information will be provided in due course.

In the meantime, best of luck if you manage to get a day on the river (if you have a Winter ticket), or you can visit the Reservoir anyway. And don't foregt to put those party dates in your new diary, and do let Nigel know if you intend to come, or if all else fails, you can attend the last Fly-Tying session of the year next Wednesday (but only if you let Keith know).

Wishing you all many happy Returns (geddit?)

Looking at the current state of the river, and the forecast weather, I suspect a few more of you will be visiting the Reservoir before too long. Apart from the usual perils of getting flies stuck in
