Just in case you haven't had enough depressing numbers and statistics from today's budget, here are some more. I hope we'll see quite a few of you the AGM on Thursday, but in case you can't make it, here are some of the statistics from the 2025 Trout Season on the river.
This shows the catches by Beat, and in the 2nd tab there are some graphical representations.
If you have trouble downloading the spreadsheet, email me and I'll send you a copy directly.
Meanwhile, down on the river today (Wednesday), the South Eat Rivers Trust guys were at it a again, taking down a number of trees and securing them into the river to improve the flow and provide habitat for fry etc. You may recall that they did a lot of excellent work on 3B last year, and now they're working on 3C below the Tractor Bridge.

I think this was Nigel asking why I was messing about taking pictures instead of helping him restore the path near where the SERT guys were working. I had been helping a bit, honest, but I soon got bored and went off fishing up the rest of the beat, searching for Grayling, in vain, but I did get a nice fish on a size 20 dry Wickham's Hackle, which should have been a Grayling but turned out not to be.
Lovely day for fishing though, except that the river was the lowest I've ever seen it, at 17cm, which compounded the fairly clear water, and probably meant that most of the fish saw me coming.
Anyway, I'm off to swot up my numbers for the AGM tomorrow, so hope to see some of you there.
Cheers
PeterB
P.S. Following the very successful AGM yesterday, here are the water quality test results to date:
WQMN
The Angling Trust's Water Quality Monitoring Network which the TAOA joined in August 22.
We are monitoring the Teise each month near the footbridge at Harpers, (downstream of the Outfall) and the results are as follows:
Date Level Flow Weather Rained Temp Electrical Phosphate Nitrate Comments
in 24hrs Conductivity

If you need the key to these readings, please refer to last year's results below (2 Dec 24).
