Getting down to it.

You may have seen our esteemed Chairman's comments in his welcome letter, and the plug for our great work-parties. We had yet another on on Saturday, on Beat 2a, (Trottenden) and once again, a jolly good time was had by all. Not only did we enjoy Nigel's high-quality coffee, Andrew's excellent home-made sausage rolls, and Jempson's super doughnuts, but most of us ended up in the pub afterwards!

In between all that, we actually did some very useful work, as David, Matt and Dexter built some really good steps in the corner of field 1 in a place that was very hard to reach, but a nice unfished spot.

Further downstream in field 2, the rest of us set to with a couple of new ladders. One of them has created a really valuable new access point to a new platform, on a bend with very deep water. The pool was always very fishy, but almost impossible to fish except with a long drift downstream. It should soon become a favourite I reckon.

Finally, we installed another new ladder near a well-used spot that had been eroded last year, so that you couldn't get so far upstream. That was a shame as there was often a Brown rising in a fairly shallow pool, but it took a very good cast to get there. Now the new ladder gives access to the that pool, so that Brown will now have to watch out for us less able casters as well.
There's still more work to do for the next work-party, and also by Nigel on his own, or possibly with a few willing accomplices in between work-parties.
If this weather holds for a while, and it looks as if it will, with all the new features and access points and other work we've done on the river all Winter, it'll be a real treat, so do enjoy it from Thursday onwards.
Tight Lines
PeterB
