Spring is Sprung

We've just had 3 fishable days on the river - perhaps for the first time this year, at least it feels like that. Of course it'll be raining again tomorrow, so maybe we shouldn't cast too many clouts just yet.

To celebrate the brilliant sunshine and warm winds on Wednesday, we had another small but perfectly formed work party to repair some of the steps vandalised by the winter deluges at Share Farm.

We put in a new ladder where the steps had ben completely eroded, down to a pool about a third of the way down the beat. We also repaired and supplemented the first set of steps near the top of the beat, down to the shallow run below the bridge.

Then we went further down above the very big pool and sorted out those steps and added a new rope.

I think we earned our coffee and doughnuts, but Andy, Chris, Keith , Matt, Nigel and I had a pleasant morning in the sun and actually added some value, so not a bad achievement.

Remember that the Winter Fishing season ends on 14th March, but will also be suspended from the Outfall Pool down to the Tractor Bridge this year from the end of February. It's still OK to fish Beat 3a and other permitted beats below the Tractor Bridge until 14th March. After that it's just the Reservoir, until April 3rd when we can all get back on the river and seek out a trout again.

Cheers
