Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend the AGM last night in Lamberhurst. There was good company, good beer and some interesting debate and discussion, not to mention a magnificent prize just for submitting catch returns. What a Xmas treat!
Congratulations to Carl on being the lucky draw winner, and I hope you get some nice stuff from Barbless, and that you enjoy the greeting inside the card: 'Many Happy Returns' (geddit?).
OK, enough of that, here is a summary of the 2022 season results, as promised.
It's only 1 page so you can download and print it off to read at your leisure.
If you look really carefully, you will find that some of the numbers don't add up perfectly. There are a number of technical reasons for that, (apart from incompetence on my part), and they include Returns from nowhere (no Beat included), and fish returned that weren't caught; all of these are possible and not infrequent, but anything's better than nothing.
A few stats from the stats:
Overall Returns up slightly (9%) and number of members submitting them up 21% but still only 56 (from 95+);
Caught: Rainbows (733) and Browns (147) – up 20%
Released: Rainbows 70%, Browns 93%
Grayling catch well down – 45%
Best beats: 2a (R249, B62); 3b (R223, B47, G72); then 3c, 3a, 2b
Share Farm 50% Blanks.
Minor Beats: Returns: 1: 7; 4:7; 5: 1; 6: 3; 7: 15; Res: 6.
Good to see that Returns are up on last year, so please keep up the good work, and do be sure to add in comments about issues, observations, and perhaps the most valuable part, what your successful flies and techniques were, and maybe the time of day.
I'll endeavour to share the essence of what comes in via this blog, so do check in periodically for tips and news, and feel free to send stuff to me for inclusion (teiseAOA@gmail.com)
Thanks again and enjoy your break until April (unless you have a Winter Ticket).
Cheers
PeterB
