Some of the more dedicated members of our club who join in the work parties may be familiar with the enthusiastic help of one of our younger members, Dexter Francis. Well, not only is he very helpful in restoring the banks, but he's been using his club membership to good ends as well.
Congratulations are in order for Dexter who has recently completed, and been presented with, his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. He completed four sections:
Volunteering
Physical
Expedition
Skills
For the skills section Dexter chose fly fishing and had to fish the River Teise every week for a period during last season. What a hardship! At the end he was assessed to see what he had learned by Keith Tiley, our club's Welfare Officer, who then reported to the scheme.
Well done Dexter, hopefully you will go on to your Silver next and learn even more fly fishing skills.
.

I wonder if I'm to old to enter the scheme? I certainly need to learn the skills.
Cheers

Well done Dexter!
Guess an extra sausage roll for you at the next work party! Maybe Peter B will donate an extra doughnut as well!
Congratulations Dexter - a significant achievement - and thank you for all your hard work & support of the Association at the work parties. Tight lines for the season ahead & good luck with the silver if you are attempting it!!
